South Tyneside Homes manage, maintain and improve council homes and estates within South Tyneside on behalf of South Tyneside Council.

South Tyneside Homes are offering a training programme that will help individuals gain valuable work experience and a recognised qualification that could lead to future opportunities within the working environment.

Work placements are within South Tyneside and the intake will be for a 6 month term that will focus on grounds maintenance/ estate maintenance.

The following list is an example of the areas of work experience you will gain:-

Environmental and Property Maintenance

This will involve working directly with members of the handy estates, voids and environmental maintenance team at South Tyneside Homes. The placement will involve gaining experience in either of the following fields:

  • Organising and carrying out work to a high quality

  • Working within estates across South Tyneside

  • Keeping local areas clean, safe and tidy

  • Working within recreational parks undertaking basic Horticulture work

  • Garden tidy projects

  • Fencing repairs

  • Painting projects

  • Working as a team member

  • Health and safety at work

  • Customer service
