Race and other hate incidents
A hate incident is any incident that is judged by the victim or any other person as being motivated by prejudice or hate.
Examples of race and hate incidents include:
- racism
- discrimination
- damage to property
- personal abuse
Report a hate incident
- In confidence at your local housing office
- By calling the police on 999 (in an emergency) or 101 (non-emergency)
- By contacting the council on 0191 427 7000 or by e-mailing hateincidents@southtyneside.gov.uk.
What happens next?
- All incidents will be taken seriously.
- The incident will be investigated and recorded.
- You will be kept informed about progress.
- No action will be taken without your consent.
