Involving you
Involving you as a leaseholder is important to delivering effective, good quality housing services. We want to ensure that the decisions we make reflect your priorities and that you have the opportunity to be involved either on your own or as part of a group.
We believe you should have the opportunity to have a say in issues that affect your homes in a way that suits you. Successful involvement leads to better decision-making that reflects to local needs. When you feel involved, you are more satisfied with your housing service.
What we aim to achieve
South Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes have worked closely with tenants and leaseholders to develop an involvement strategy entitled ‘Working together’. The strategy outlines what we want to achieve and shows how we will involve, engage and empower tenants, leaseholders and residents in decisions about our services.
What is the Involvement Team and what can it do for you?
The Involvement Team encourages and supports tenant and leaseholder participation. The Team will co-ordinate tenant and leaseholder consultation. It offers advice on a range of subjects such as training, funding and running residents groups. The team can:
- Help with setting up and running tenants’ and residents’ associations
- Encourage and support new initiatives to engage your views
- Invite you to consultation events or information days
- Help in the production of leaflets, flyers, posters, newsletters etc to promote residents associations
- Offer, from a range of methods, the opportunity to become involved at a level which suits you
The Involvement Team can be contacted on 0191 426 8413 or 0191 426 8414
