South Tyneside Homes has been named Landlord of the Year in prestigious industry awards.
The housing company, which manages and maintains 18,000 properties on behalf of South Tyneside Council, clinched the coveted title at the Northern Housing Awards.
The winner was announced at a virtual ceremony last week.
Judges praised the amount of activity carried out in the community and the organisation's 'impressive record of supporting residents in accessing the level of financial help they were entitled to'.
They also highlighted that the company had established a social enterprise to provide development opportunities for local people.
Cllr Ed Malcolm, Chair of South Tyneside Homes' board, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be named Landlord of the Year, it's a fantastic accolade.
"Our staff have really gone above and beyond during the pandemic and this award is testament to their hard work and commitment to delivering first class services and providing support to our residents.
"We put our tenants at the heart of everything we do. We heavily involve them in a variety of ways to help shape, develop and improve our services, as well as to challenge management and ensure residents' views are fully represented.
"We'll continue to innovate, attract funding and provide great homes across the borough."
